Stephanie moved to Atlanta in 2010 and spent three years caring for her sick mother. When her mother got better, Stephanie was anxious and depressed about re-entering the job market. Her previous skills were out of date and numerous job applications went nowhere.
Then Stephanie saw an internet posting about a pilot program for clinical administrative positions at Grady Hospital, with STRIVE job-readiness training. She applied, was called in for an interview, and then invited to return for orientation the next day. Stephanie felt the first spark of hope and was ready to commit to becoming employed. The initial STRIVE training was, she says “an amazing, unique experience for me.” Stephanie began to open up and dig deep to identify what she needed to improve. She learned true professionalism, a strong work ethic and the soft skills she needed to succeed. Going on to Microsoft Office Operations training, Stephanie updated and extended her computer skills. The icing on the cake was achieving Microsoft Word certification!
Stephanie’s life has totally changed. She is grateful to trainers, administrators and classmates. Now employed helping patients as a Scheduling Representative at Grady, she recommends the STRIVE program to anyone who is determined to change their life for the better.
